About Mark Holloway

God’s not grumpy,
he’s not obsessed with our behaviour, and he’s not planning to punish us.

When Mark heard God say he likes us and isn’t angry, he knew the religious thought-police would be angry, so he kept what God was saying secret. “I was desperate, my life had gone down the toilet, conversations with God kept me sane.” His conversations didn’t stay secret for long though – soon hundreds were asking to read them. So Mark published The Freedom Diaries and tens of thousands of readers experienced the joy of a real conversation with God.

Marks books have set
thousands free from the
icy grip of Religion.

People say The Freedom Diaries sets them free from religion’s chains. International Christian leaders and writers say its pages are a breakthrough – at last, here is conversation with God like a friend. Mark’s second book, Cry the Wounded Land, is being hailed as ‘scary, urgent and convicting’. It details 19 conversations with God about Maori (New Zealand’s First Nations People), Europeans, and the land – not a pretty story. And now, brand new, comes Mark’s third book – his extraordinary new novel based on a true story, 11 DAYS.

“If someone as mixed up
as me can have a conversation
with God, you can too.”

Mark tells audiences that when he asks God why he bothers talking to him so freely, the answer is levelling, ‘He tells me that if people see that someone as messed up as me can talk with God, they’ll figure they can too.”

Who knew? God just
wants to hang out with us
and shoot the breeze.

When his books became number one sellers, Mark realised that others were as hungry as him to escape religion and hear God. “God doesn’t want us ticking a bunch of boxes, he just wants to talk, about anything – our dreams, our money, sex-lives and family, all that stuff.” His books and events show people (those in church, and out), how to have a conversation with God, without obeying Religion’s oppressive rules.

Family (yes she came
back after five years).

Mark and Miriam are normal everyday people – he is an expert advisor to business, she drives big-rig trucks. And in their spare time they talk to thousands about their unique story and how conversations with God have healed them and their marriage. They are the parents of five adult children – a surgeon, a property trader & cowboy, a father-of-three and a real estate agent, a property developer, and the founder of an online fashion brand – and the proud grandparents of a growing band of grandies (and grand dogs!)

A broken marriage, a failed business and an angry man on an 11 Day motorcycle ride with God.

My latest book 11 DAYS, is available now in paperback or e-book.

Readers say 11 DAYS will change the way you think about yourself and about life. It’s a mind-changer and a page-turner. A book you can’t put down.

You’ll travel the unspoilt backroads of New Zealand with Jack and his mates, meet everyday kiwis, and be the fly on the wall when Jack has his unlikely, often humorous conversations with God. The wonderful heart warming ending will give you more hope than you’ve had in years.

“Going to be another best seller”

“Challenged my thinking on just about everything I thought was important – this book will change your life!”

The Freedom Diaries

After 37 years of believing in a God who seldom speaks, Mark Holloway’s life goes down the plughole in a single day.

Worse, he discovers it’s his own doing. Terrified, he screams out to God, just like he did years before when his son and daughter were dying. To his amazement God speaks back, and this time keeps on talking. An unbelievable conversation with God begins. As his life continues to slide into an abyss, Mark is plagued by doubt. Would God really talk to him like this?

Cry The Wounded Land

Mark Holloway doesn’t want to talk about the bloody history of New Zealand, but discovers to his horror that God does.

One day, without warning, Mark finds himself in a back and forward conversation with God about Maori and Pakeha. It takes him completely by surprise. It wasn’t what he and God had started out talking about. He tries to change the subject, but God keeps bringing the discussion back to the brown and white story.
