Get out a piece of paper and a pen and try this – it will change your life forever.

You can use your phone or computer if you’d prefer, you just need something to write on.

Miriam and I teach people to do this when we speak to groups in pubs, local halls and churches. We tell them the crazy story of how doing this fixed our busted marriage, and then we tell them to grab their pen and a bit of paper. If you were there you’d be gobsmacked at what happens next. And, yes, it always happens.

A hush falls over the place and the supernatural begins to happen, people hear from upstairs. Thousands say (yes it really is thousands now), they say they meet a God they always wished he was, but were always taught he wasn’t.

Anyway, enough about us. Grab something to write with and get ready for something truly magical.

Hey, I was sceptical too. In fact, I only did it to prove that it didn’t work, but pretty much as soon as I began to write I knew I’d touched something eternal.

This is how to do it;

Write your question, any question to God. Ask him whatever you want. Not what you think you’re supposed to ask, but what you want to know. What’s about to happen to you is going to annihilate ‘Shoulds’ and rules in your life forever. It’s going to set you free.

Your question might be about your mortgage, your job, your relationship, your kids, it doesn’t matter. Just make it something that matters to you.

So, for example, write something like this;

“Hey, God, what are you saying about my mortgage? I’m worried we’re not going to be able to afford to pay it?”

Or, it might be something less dramatic and more strategic, E.G.

“God, I’m thinking of a job change, is that a good idea, or is it a better decision to stick with this position?”

And then get ready for the eternal;

Start writing whatever comes, write whatever comes into your mind. Don’t wait for it to come, start writing and it will come. Sounds a bit back to front doesn’t it 😊 but it works.

When people first try this they sometimes find it easier to start the sentence for God, nothing weird, but just the first few obvious words, like, for instance;

“Steve, what I’m saying about changing your job is…”

And then keep writing whatever comes into your mind.

What to do if you think you’re making it up;

Don’t panic, most people do think that at first until they suddenly sense they’re connected upstairs. Sometimes that happens right when you’re doing it, other times when you come back and read what you’ve written.

So, if you think you’re making it up…

This is a conversation right, if God is indeed happy to have a conversation with you then you should treat it as such. If you were having a conversation with a friend and they said something that sounded plain dumb, or too good to be true, you’d challenge them a wee bit.

You’d probably say something like;

“Are you sure, Bruce? That sounds too weird”, Or “No way, Bruce, I think I’m making that up.”

So, do the same with God. If you think what you just wrote down is too weird, dumb or too good to be true, if you think you’re making it up, tell him that. You might say something like;

“No way, God, this can’t be for real. I’m convinced I’m making this up.”

And then write what comes, and if you’re still not sure, challenge him again.

“Look, God, I still think this is rubbish, there’s no way this is you??”

And, once again, write what comes.

Over and over, until all of a sudden you break through and you’re just about convinced that you’re pretty much sure that this really is God.  Just like anytime he speaks to you – you’re pretty sure, sometimes almost 100% sure, but also, just a wee bit unsure. It’s like that. You’ll recognise this is the same.

People ask us how long you have to keep it up, writing, challenging him, writing more. The answer is pretty simple – as long as it takes if you really want to hear God. So it depends on how badly you want to hear. But only on that. There’s no requirement to be a better person.

Most times, when it finally clicks, you realise you’ve been hearing him all along, but just couldn’t accept it.

Have a go, see what happens. Leading international Christians have heard about this and given it a shot and come back to me agog that it works. “How come nobody ever told us about this?” They ask. And then they do it again and again and it changes their lives.

Let me know how it goes. 😊

PS: At the risk of sounding like I’m pushing my own barrow, any of my books will help you with this. But, hey, you can certainly do it without reading anything I’ve written. :)
