God I’ve got a couple things on my mind — two of them I’m a wee bit concerned about.

Me too.

What, concerned?

Yes.

Why, because I am?

Yes, I share your concerns.

You mean those concerns I’m thinking about specifically, or in general?

Both.

Did you say ‘I’ve got this’?

I’ve always ‘got this’.

Sounds a bit too mamby-pamby and religious for me somehow, God. Got to say I’m not convinced!

True all the same.

Meaning what though exactly? It sounds nice, predictably spiritual, but what does it actually mean?

Just that. ‘I’ve got this’.

Still not buying it! Every religion trots that line out about you.

Yes, they do. Raises a few questions doesn’t it?

It just seems a bit too predictable somehow, I can imagine some pointless priest pontificating, muttering words like ‘The Lord has you in his hands my son’, yet having no real idea of the meaning — kind of thing doesn’t wash with me, God, sorry.

The words are true though.

Maybe so, but a God who says that sort of thing, hmmm – surely there’s more depth to you than that?

Of course, and look, I agree it’s unfortunate sometimes the mouths out of whom truth comes.

Do they have any real concept that it actually is truth?  I wonder if it’s just something they’ve been taught to say, like automatons somehow?

Nevertheless, it is true. Of course, understanding what it actually means is the important thing. Do you?

Ok, well each religion thinks that their particular God — Allah, Jehovah, the Trinity, etc are on their side, concerned for them.

And I am.

But that’s the problem! The Jews are convinced that Christians are listening to Satan, the Muslims think that Jews are in cohorts with the evil of ash-Shayṭān, and of course the Christians think everyone is deceived by darkness except them.

Yes. Children can often be like that, thinking they are the only one doing the right thing. Meanwhile their parents look on loving and speaking to each of them and concerned about the daily issues of each of their lives. Each of them. That’s something for you to think about, it’ll do you good.

What will?

To think about what I’ve just said. Read it again, that last paragraph and think about it.

Ok, but we haven’t really talked about those couple of concerns I was running around in my mind?

Actually we have. If you think about it, we have. Now you have two things to think about.
